FOOD FOR THOUGHT - Personal Testimonies
The next stage in Caroline's Christian journey ...

Caroline first came with her family to Knutsford Methodist Church circa 1999. Recorded below, written in 2004, is her farewell message to the church family. It tells its own story ...

A Final Goodbye. Where has the time gone and, perhaps even more puzzlingly, who would have believed it? Here I am, four years on, in the middle of my packing and getting ready to embark on the next part of my journey.

In some ways it doesn't feel like 2 minutes since I was faxing my mum from the ship and, on arriving home, talking to our Minister, Paul, about how I felt called to ordained ministry. At this point I knew very little about the ways of Methodism and hadn't even preached my first sermon! What was I thinking? Clearly, I had a lot to learn but, with Paul's careful guidance and faith in a God who is able to do more than we can even begin to dream or imagine, I was pointed in the right direction and began the process of discernment.

I was soon informed that the whole procedure would probably take up to 4 or 5 years and, even then I might not get accepted. This was going to be a good test of my patience and calling, but over the years I have learnt a lot about myself, others and God and I don't regret a minute of it.

The main reason I am writing this letter, though, is to say a big thank you to you all, as a body and as individuals. I know I won't be able to see you all properly before I leave, but please be assured that, however great or small a part you may have played in my journey, it has meant A LOT. Bucket and spade Words of encouragement, practical support and prayers have been appreciated so much.

Thank you once again, and don't forget your bucket and spade if you come to visit me in Lytham, St. Annes (let's hope they'll be ready for me!).
God Bless - Yours with love, Caroline.
