Young People's Cell Groups
Our young people's cell-groups have really taken off and, like anything new, they are growing and changing along with the young people in the groups. When the young people asked if they could meet in this way it was because they felt they needed to pray and study God's word in smaller groups to learn, support and encourage each other in their spiritual and daily lives.
Here are some comments from an all-girls' cell-group:-
- Cell groups are a chance to meet with people from TNT that we don't know, or talk to as much as we should, while having interesting debates on topics we feel are relevant to us, discovering what the Christian approach to these situations would be.
- Cell groups help us to support each other through prayer while aiding in our spiritual growth.
- Cell groups meet up once a week to learn more about God and the other members of our group.
- Cell groups hope to get closer together, so that we feel we can ask God for help and discuss our problems, or other issues, with the other members of the group.
- Our cell in particular wanted to achieve certain things within the group. We hope that at the end, we will have been able to help each other and that it would result in us getting closer to God. Already our group feels that we have accomplished some of these things, we have become closer and can trust each other enough to ask for help.
- Trust is very important to our group in particular because we are the only all-girl cell group. Often problems can arise when girls do not get on or fully trust each other, and we feel we have had God's help.
- Each week we are given a different topic of discussion and we work our way through the Bible. We have had big discussions on some topics e.g. Adam & Eve and forgiveness. Having discussions like these brings us closer because we get to hear different people's points of view, and hear their ideas. This helps us to understand each other better. We feel we have all been inspired by God. He helps us, through our cell groups, and gives us strength when we need it.
- When we first came up with the idea of cell groups not all of us were keen on the idea, but within a week all of us were enthusiastic about meeting up and starting the groups.
- "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2 Corinthians.

And here's some comments from a mixed group...
- Hey, ladies and gentleman of Knutsford Methodist Church, this is the update from the cell-group led by Tim and Ailsa. Our group (when we're all here) numbers six - Ali, Ailsa, Hazel, Leah, Tim and Vicky. We meet each Thursday night just before TNT at Tim's house.
- Each week we start off by praying for each other and discussing how our weeks have been. Then we read this week's material. Recently the leaders, Tim and Ailsa, have begun preparing their own material, instead of the Icthus files we originally started with.
- Whatever material we use it doubtlessly will lead to a big discussion amongst the group - everyone shares their views, which, depending on the topic, can be greatly varied or very similar.
- Finally, we finish with a meditation. These are normally prepared by that week's leader, and they are just quite reflection-times where we'll watch a video, listen to some music or fill in a sheet, which has some relevance to what we've been discussing during the session. We feel this part of our cell group is essential, as it is very rare in this busy world we get a time to just sit back and think, and talk to God.
- Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves in our group, which is great considering the range of people, from those who've only just started coming to church to those who have been coming since birth.
- We have a few things we'd like you to pray for. All of us are approaching exams and tough decisions in our lives - we ask you pray that God will help us make the right decisions, and the ones that will bring the most glory to Him.
- We also pray that God will continue to work in our cell-group, and the other three, and that our faith, which is strong now, will not wilt but continue to grow. Thanks for listening, and we thank you for the support which you have shown us - we are extremely grateful.
God Bless,
Ali, Ailsa, Hazel, Leah, Tim and Vicky.
Please pray for our Young People who are moving and growing in God (they are very special to God), the youth leaders and this fellowship at Knutsford Methodist Church.
