Easter People 2005 - Southport
This year at Easter People was great. We took a group of 25 young people to the event and the only place we could find to accommodate this number was dear old 'Pontins'. Everyone had a great time and many of the young people experienced God move in their lives. They all behaved impeccably; well, as good as you can when you're a teenager!!!! Below, we have some reflections on Easter People from them in their own words. I don 't need to add any more - they say it all!!
Others attending the event have also added their impressions. Please read and be encouraged; God is working among us and through us!!!
- "Easter people brought me closer to God and strengthened my relationship with Him. It was amazing as it was a different way of worship and taught me a lot about God. Other people's experiences of God really brought to life how God works in our lives. It was great meeting other young Christians outside our church, and sharing their views."
- "Easter People was a great experience, I am definitely glad I went! I felt my relationship with God became a lot stronger and I feel a lot more comfortable with worship/prayer. I also learnt a lot about God and the Bible, and I hope I can build on this knowledge throughout my life. I also had a lot of fun, met some new people and hope to go back next year!!!"
- "During the week at Easter People I had an amazing experience at one of the morning worships. I was able to give my life to God and feel His power and presence in my life for the first time."
- Easter People turned out to be one of the best events in this year's calendar so far. After a shaky start with the P.A being a little dodgy and us not knowing the songs, we soon got into it and we were all very upset to leave by the end of the week. Thanks for all the help Alison, Neil and Peter F. It was a fab week!!!"
- "The urban night on Wednesday gave me great inspiration for a dance."
- "Easter people has been an amazing experience. My relationship with God has been greatly strengthened. Every day was filled with a rewarding sense of achievement, from helping to decorate a youth drop-in centre for the homeless to rocking out and crowd surfing!!!"
- "Easter People was a really amazing experience for me, as it was the first time I experienced God's presence properly. On the last day I was prayed for, which was a really emotional experience and I've since felt differently about everything. I've been trying hard to keep God in my everyday life by praying and reading the Bible. The best Service by far was the 'Rock Church' with 'Tears of Solomon'; they rocked and I went in my first mosh pit! We had a rockin' band and crowd-surfing prayer which was just the most amazing way of worship ever!!!!"
- "It was my birthday at Easter People (Pontins! 1st class accommodation!). I spent the day with the most amazing people, I was enlightened by the most moving speech (which reduced me to tears). I became a 'freedom fighter' experienced gardening for the first time, had a huge cake and a surprise party!! I had a moving and enlightening week."
- "We went on different missions throughout the week. I helped out to tidy some gardens for homeless people. It may sound like and oxymoron - homeless people don't have homes let alone gardens! But in Southport the churches buy houses to home any homeless people in the town, so there are no homeless people for long in Southport. We managed to unearth a crisp packet from 1987 under the brambles, and also unearthed a patio that had been totally covered by weeds!!"
- "It was amazing to see some of my best friends come to know God and to really feel his presence. It was not only incredibly uplifting to witness but encouraging for my own faith. I also enjoyed spending time with all my best friends and to spend time in God's presence. The worship with 'Tears of Solomon' was totally 'mintified' (meaning of this word on a postcard please - Alison) and the songs were wicked!!!!!!"
- "Great fellowship with the group."
- "Spread the word on mission."
- "Great time in worship."
- "Football tournament was a laugh!!!"
- "Tears of Solomon rocked!!"
