| ||||||||
| Read Chapter 6, verses 1-20, of the Book of Joshua.
The people of Israel, forty years walking in the wilderness, were encamped at Gilgal on the Eastern border of Jericho - because of the massed Israelite presence no-one left or entered the city. The Lord told Joshua that Jericho would fall to the Israelites if they followed certain, specific instructions. Joshua obeyed the Lord and the city fell. The stages of how this was achieved are recorded on the bricks below.

Print these onto thick paper or card, cut them out and place them in the order of the story. Then, keeping the bricks in the same order, and building across (and downwards) from top-left to right, see if you can construct the complete wall of the city.
For this, you need to print out the building plan set out below. Carefully cut around the outline, fold up the grey outer edges and glue the corners to form a box section. Try also following the valley and mountain folds to produce a rams-horn trumpet - seal the central gap with cellotape.

| If the wall just won't come together, and you need help, then go back to the top of this page and click on "Solution".
And when you've finally succeeded (Phew!), hold the base and try blowing along the rams-horn trumpets ...
