FOOD FOR THOUGHT - Insights (2)

INSIGHTS

Personal experiences which have provoked thought - and created or reinforced particular insights about our lives in God's world.
In this example, one of our church members reflects on the essential role and power of prayer in our lives...
PRAYER-THOUGHT.

Prayer, as we all know, is the one area the Devil loves to attack. He does so by making us feel we don't need to be too enthusiastic about prayer, or he tries to get us to be too busy with other things - and, of course, once the 'WALL OF PROTECTION' crumbles then we have no protection against the enemy's schemes. Wesley Duewel quotes this in his book, 'Touch the world through prayer'. So with this in mind I feel we should endeavour to stop the enemy gaining a foothold in this area.

Little girl proudly holding world globe I came across a lovely illustration entitled 'Map of the World'. A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little daughter, Vanessa. Finally, he tore out a sheet of his magazine on which was printed the map of the world. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to Vanessa and said, "Go into the other room and see if you can put this together". After a few minutes, Vanessa returned and handed him the map, correctly fitted together. The father was surprised and asked how she had finished so quickly. Jesus preaching "Oh", She said, "On the other side of the paper is a picture of Jesus. When I got Jesus back where He belonged, then the world came together".

I couldn't help thinking that it's the same where PRAYER is concerned. When we get PRAYER back into the picture then the Lord does amazing things and can transform people's lives and situations.

PRAYER should be second nature to us, and yet, let's be honest with ourselves, we need to be reminded to keep at it. God's word reminds us to 'pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests' (Ephesians 6, verses 12 & 18). We desperately need more PRAYER if we want to see more blessing. We can start by spending even more time in God's presence individually, and corporately, by coming (for example) to Tuesday evening's PRAYER & PRAISE at church.

You may feel this is not for you. WELL...It isn't...It's for HIM, your Heavenly Father, who delights in us when we join together in one accord.

In Phillipians 1, verses 3-5, St Paul says, "I thank my God for every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now".

KEEP PRAYING AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO SO AS WELL.

It's wonderful how the Lord can reveal Himself when we just take the time to talk with Him ...
