Personal experiences which have provoked thought - and created or reinforced particular insights about our lives in God's world.
In this example, one of our church members recounts an instance when she received a special insight of how God is always there to rescue us from our failings and sinfulness - His grace is ever-available, and it is free! FREE RECOVERY STARTS HERE... | ||

At our Mereheath Lane House Group we were discussing prayer and some of the places where we prayed:- doing the garden, walking in the park, driving to work, etc. I shared a thought with the group and was later asked to write it for our Church magazine, 'Open Doors' - so here it is.
I travel home from work along the M60 from Manchester to Stockport, where there have been road-works for months and nose-to-tail traffic all the way. On one particular evening after a busy, tiring day I was more irritable than usual, as I sat, yet again in the traffic jam, getting more impatient by the minute. "Queues likely", "Congestion ahead", the signs read. As though I didn't know that already. I'd experienced it for the last six months.
A little further on I spotted another sign - FREE RECOVERY (and the same breakdown vehicle) AWAIT RESCUE. Again I put the cross in place of the breakdown vehicle. Everyone of us can be rescued. This was becoming quite a prayerful journey. There was a third sign, EMERGENCY TELEPHONES NOT IN USE. This led me to thank God that His emergency telephones are never Not In Use. We can call on Him at any time. We don't have to press, 1,2,3 or 4 to get the right department. The line is never busy and He never hangs up. So, throughout our journey, whether it's along a busy motorway or through our journey of life, let's remember... Marlene W |
