INSIGHTS

Personal experiences which have provoked thought - and created or reinforced particular insights about our lives in God's world.
In this example, one of our church members shares the thoughts which were inspired in her mind whilst using a satellite navigation system to accomplish a particular journey - read on to discover the parallel she found in the loving guidance which is ever there for us in our journey through life.
SPIRITUAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

'…but we are looking for the city that is to come.'
Hebrews 13 v14

Car travelling along a road What do you buy for the man who has everything? This was my dilemma last Christmas when wondering what to get for my husband, Peter. Eventually, I decided on a 'sat.nav.', or, to the uninitiated like me, a satellite navigation system. As we do quite a lot of travelling to visit family and friends and often get into new ground, it has been very useful.

Recently, we set off to visit some friends in Crickhowell, South Wales. As we went on a Friday afternoon and the M6 gets somewhat busy, we decided to go via 'the pretty route' down through Shropshire. It's a trip we've done many times before and do know the way but tend to get confused (it doesn't take a lot!) driving through Hereford. Just north of Hereford we were directed straight on through Leominster. Now we really were breaking new ground. Peter made the remark something like "we drive off into the unknown just listening to a voice in a box believing we'll arrive at the right place" - and this set me thinking…

On our journey through Wales, we passed through some truly beautiful landscape and quiet roads. It's like this in our life with God. We have faith in Him, believing that He will lead us to the right place. Sometimes it's through Bible-readings, sometimes through the 'still small voice'; God gets our attention in all sorts of ways. As we listen to Him, things fall into place.

Occasionally when we're driving, we miss a turning and then a voice tells us to 'turn around where possible'. In our journey of life we often miss a turning but God forgives us and allows us to turn around and start again - not just once but many times.

Eventually, we arrived safely at our friends' home. It wasn't the quickest route but it was the shortest and certainly the most picturesque.

One day, if we hold fast to our faith in a loving God and listen to His voice, we will arrive at heaven's door and hear, as 'sat.nav.' says,
"You have reached your destination".
