More About Us ... |
The Monday Afternoon Bible Class is not strictly a house group as we meet in the Small Hall at Knutsford Methodist Church. Our meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
The group was established at the beginning of 2001 to cater for the "leisured class" i.e. those who are not working on Monday afternoons. It is led by Bob B. There are about ten regular attendees, but anyone is welcome to come. During 2002 we looked at the development of the Gospel, seeing how God has worked through history from the fall of mankind towards the eventual perfecting of the universe. Twelve of our sessions this year are devoted to a study of the two writing of Luke, namely the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. These works appear to have been commissioned by someone called Theophilus to check out the varied stories about Jesus and the early Christians; and to write a definitive account which presumably was intended to be used by the Greek and/or Roman Christians. We are studying these, story by story, to get a thorough understanding of the message Luke produced. Leaflets giving the programme of the Monday Afternoon Bible Class are available in the Church foyer. Bob |
