". . . if my people, who are called by name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14 |

Certainly not! Everyone is welcome, whenever and for however long you can make it. Prayer and Praise is an informal and friendly gathering of both sexes, varied ages and different denominations.
Prayer and Praise started during the mid 1990s with the aim of doing just that - praying and worshipping God as brothers and sisters in Christ. There are currently about 25-30 people who regularly attend but numbers are rapidly growing and we want to encourage as many people as possible to come along. The evening starts with a time of praise with the opportunity to share with one another the different ways in which God has been at work during the week. With our hectic lifestyles it is great to take time out and reflect upon this, and it is also important that we share these blessings with others. God doesn't just want to bless us, he wants to bless those around us too - and so, by sharing our experiences with each other, we have the chance to encourage and build one another up in faith. This is usually followed by a brief Bible reading and a short time of teaching before leading into prayer. As well as bringing our personal prayers to God, we also pray for Knutsford, the community, its churches and for revival. This may sound a lot more structured than it actually is, though. Prayer and Praise is ultimately led by the Holy Spirit, giving him the opportunity to move, speak and minister to his people in the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the group.
Praise and worship is for everyone. Worshipping God isn't just restricted to Sundays and it's great to meet mid-week to give God the praise and glory that, after all, is rightfully his. Sometimes it feels as if we are always on the go and that it why it is also beneficial to come into the presence of God mid-week, to set aside the time to listen to him and to join others in their prayers. No one is obliged to pray aloud, but as Jesus himself promised, he is present in great power whenever two or three are gathered in his name and so we can not deny there is greater power in corporate prayer. The evening closes with a time of fellowship over coffee and biscuits. |

Thought for the Day
If the disciples and the sinless Son of Man thought it important to set aside time to meet together in praise and join together in prayer, shouldn't we? |
