Knutsford Methodist Church Prayer-Chain
Life Is Fragile: Handle with Prayer!!
Are you troubled or anxious right now? Do you have an urgent need for prayer?
We, at Knutsford Methodist Church, have recently formed 2 prayer-chains, to complement our twice-weekly prayer-meetings which have been operating for some time.
ALL are welcome to use this service: you do not have to be a church member, or a church-goer. If you need prayer, that is enough, we are willing to help. Whilst we do not offer a listening or a counselling service (for this, please contact Rev. Paul Wilson on 633276), we can and do receive requests for prayer by phone.
Each prayer-request will be treated in the strictest confidence, and each prayer-chain operates independently from the other, and from the prayer-meetings. You may wish to have all members of the chain praying for you, or perhaps just one or two. If you want to be known just by your first name, that is also fine.
Please contact the Church Office (Kn.652251).
Knutsford Churches Prayer-Wall
".... you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 2:4)
The Christians of the Knutsford environs have presently undertaken to sustain a continuous flow of prayer, shared between the members of all of the local Christian Churches. Individuals commit to half-hour or one-hour prayer-sessions on a regular weekly basis, thus aiming to ensure that every hour of each 24-hour day is covered. This is the concept of the continuous multi-denominational prayer-wall. The following provides suggestions and guidance on prayer-topics.
If we keep short accounts with God, we will pray more effectively, because we will be "clear minded". Please continue to pray for each other, for all aspects of our lives, e.g. health, relationships, employment, etc., because the opposition to what we are doing will be fierce.

Points for prayer
This is a month for thanksgiving! It is right to thank God for all that He has done so far, & to thank Him for all that He intends to do in future.
Please give thanks for the Holy Spirit, given at Pentecost, & pray that we will allow Him access to ALL parts of our lives, barring none; that we would be changed into His image.
Please give thanks for the impact that the BBC's "The Passion" had on people who watched, & pray for those who were touched by the love of Christ, & that, encouraged by its success, the BBC (and ITV) will screen more programmes of this calibre in future.
Dates to pray for...
- 3rd-6th May: For the May Day weekend; that all may go well without any harm, danger or disruptions, either during the procession itself, or at the fairgrounds. That visitors will attend worship in our churches on the Sunday, & receive a warm welcome. For the service at St John's, that it may be of significance to all who attend &, through it, that Jesus may be clearly proclaimed.
- 9th-10th May: For the first Methodist Evangelicals Together executive meeting with Paul Wilson as the new Chair.
- For the Hope 08 events for Pentecost:
- 1st-11th May: For the 24/7 prayer event between Ascension Day & Pentecost; that many from all the churches will participate, & that God will guide us & bless our town.
- 11th May: For the Hope 08 Family Event at KMC at 2.00pm, with a Puppet Ministry; that youngsters will come from the various churches, & uniform organisations.
- 11th May: For the Ecumenical Service at 7.00pm, & for Nigel, who is preaching.
- 12th May: For the Ladies' Lunches, for the speaker who will be sharing her testimony, and for all who will be attending; & that God's will may be done through these meetings.
- 28th-31st May: For "Whatever it takes" & the Fun Day, both community events hosted by the Welcome on the estate.
For our nation...
- For revival to come to this nation of ours. This is a year of expectation, as many believe that God will pour out His Spirit & move upon the nation.
- For those who are in positions of authority: our Prime minister, Gordon Brown, giving thanks that he loves the Lord; for our MP's, especially George Osborn, & upholding those who seek to be faithful to, & to serve, God; & not forgetting local councillors, at town, borough & county levels.
- About family breakdown. A senior, family-court judge commented recently, "The effects of family breakdown would, in the next 20 years, be as marked & as destructive as global warming. The collapse of family life is at a scale & severity unimaginable even 10 years ago". Prayer alert 1508. Please pray that we as a nation would turn to God in repentance & seek His way for family life.
For our town and villages...
- For our youngsters preparing for exams; especially for those whose results will determine the paths that they must take in future.
- For local businesses, that God's hand would be upon them.
- Give thanks for the safe arrival of new babies, praying for their parents, for guidance & wisdom as they bring them up. For those who have lost their babies - that they would find God's comfort.
- For those who are in hospital, & for those who are recovering or who are ill at home; for those who have been bereaved.
- For local elections being held in our area, but also for those held in other parts of the country; for the candidates & for those who will be voting.
For our churches...
- Recently, I felt that God was grieving because of the tendency of His people, the Bride of Christ, to take their relationship with Jesus too lightly: He never intended for us to have a casual, "dating" relationship with His Son; Jesus loves us so much that He has given His life for us, & He desires for us a much deeper, intimate relationship with Himself; we are His Bride, the Wedding is drawing closer - and we need to prepare for it. "No longer should Christians be asking, What can God do for me?, rather, What can I do for God?" (Selwyn Hughes, a year before he died.) If this resonates within you, please pray into it.
- That, as Pentecost approaches, we will not be afraid to allow the Holy Spirit access into all parts of our lives, to purify us, empower us, & to anoint us for the work that He has for us to do.
- That all the churches will be united in the love they have for our Saviour, & all of God's people; that they will increasingly be able to work together in reaching out to the people of our communities in the spirit of Hope '08; so that people will see within our lives the image of Christ, and so respond to Him - not to us; it's all about Him, & not about us.
- For all our pastors, youth & children's workers, & lay preachers, including all those who are in training; that God would continue to bless their ministries & anoint their gifts, that they may effectively serve God & the body of Christ.
- For the Welcome: For phase two of the redevelopment; for proposals for fresh community links/support; & for the youngsters taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme at the Welcome.
Thank you for praying - may God bless you as you joyfully do His will.
