How to Find us

 In recent years the Alderley Edge and Knutsford Methodist Circuit, and in particular the Knutsford Church, took the initiative to launch 'The Welcome Centre' project for the purpose of serving the diverse needs of the Over Ward (Longridge) Estate on the fringe of the town. A shop and drop-in centre have now been established, managed by Debbie Clarke and under the pastoral charge of Rev Richard Byass - supported by a team of lay-volunteers.

The Welcome Centre provides a wide range of community development programmes, availability of practical and counselling support, fellowship, constant coffee and cakes - also, opportunities for worship and prayer.

Minister
"Hello"
The Minister is a member of the Manchester Methodist Housing Local Board, of Knutsford Overward Community Action Project (KOWCAP) and chaplain to the Fire Station; he is also Governor at St. John's Wood School - a County Special School situated on the Overward Estate - all of which are useful links for facilitating practical liaison and co-operation between the estate and The Welcome Centre.

A dedicated manager, Mrs Debbie Clarke, runs 'The Welcome' Centre itself (she is presently candidating for the Diaconal Ministry). Also, meet Julie, our cook.

The Over Ward Project is run by a Management Committee, with Lay Chair, representatives of the Methodist Circuit, local Church and ecumenical representatives and members of the Local Community.

The shop-front premises provide an outlet for all kinds of community activities, plus refreshments, between Monday and Thursday, 10.00am to 3.00pm. Playing Pool plus a Craft Session in Shop Activities from toddlers groups, through the age range to arts and crafts for older people, are provided throughout the week.
